Come together at Canada’s premier Small Business and Entrepreneurship conference.

Entrepreneurs and small businesses have an immense impact on their communities through their new ventures, business and community outreach.

A wide range of plenary and guest speakers will share their expertise, and workshops will invite you to contribute to the dialogue.Exchange ideas and build on your areas of expertise at various networking opportunities throughout the conference, and connect with agencies, experts and entrepreneurs.

The Conference Committee at the Bissett School of Business at Mount Royal University extends a warm welcome and looks forward to seeing you at the conference in Calgary, Alberta.

About Our Host:  Mount Royal University

When Mount Royal first opened its doors nearly 100 years ago -- September 1911 -- it welcomed 179 students, including students into commerce related courses.  Today, some 12,000 credit students take a variety of programs and courses bachelor's degrees, applied degrees, university transfer courses, diplomas and certificates.  Currently over 2,200 business students are enrolled in the Bissett School of Business with almost 80% in degree studies.

In addition, the Mount Royal Conservatory of Music was also launched in 1910 and today welcomes over 5,000 music students. And over 55,000 individual course registrations are typically received through the Faculty of Continuing Education.

Experience has also taught Mount Royal the importance of preparing students well for life after graduation.  That means practical and relevant information as well as hands-on learning through work experience, practicums, in-service learning  and opportunities for undergraduate research.

Mount Royal also takes pride in responding to community needs.  To increase Alberta's access to university level courses, Mount Royal now offers seven bachelor's degrees, including the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).

Mount Royal launched its flagship applied degree in Entrepreneurship in 1995.  Building on this foundation, Entrepreneurship is promoted as an area of study in the  Bachelor of Business Administration.

Entrepreneurship is also a cross-campus minor that delivers a creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship-based curriculum in an integrated fashion by phase of the new venture life cycle.  Today, students are being provided with an intense immersive and challenging experience during which they discover and pursue their passions, gain relevant experience and make a real impact by starting, running and joining ventures as active participants of the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. Students graduate with an entrepreneurial mind-set, well prepared to take on the challenges of the current economic environment.

"An enterprising mind-set is one marked by imagination, initiative,
readiness to take on new projects,
meet new opportunities, and the passion and persistence
to overcome any obstacles in pursuit of those opportunities."

Steven Kenny, Entrepreneur in Residence, Bissett School of Business
